Funeral Language Understood: Alex Eilers on Chaos, Melody & New EP 'Cirque' | 89

🎙️ **Welcome back, Metal Maniacs!** This week, we’re diving deep into the world of chaotic, melodic, and emotionally raw heavy music with someone who’s been a friend of the show for 15 years. Our guest is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer who’s been crafting intricate and crushing music under the name Funeral Language

Alex Eilers!

Based out of **Indianapolis, IN**, Funeral Language blends the chaotic urgency of **2000s metalcore** with raw emotion and technical precision. Think **The Bled, Misery Signals, and Norma Jean**, but with a personal, DIY approach that makes it stand out. This project is **all Alex**—from writing and performing to recording and mixing—resulting in a unique sonic identity that is both nostalgic and fresh.

🆕 **New EP *Cirque* – Out March 18th!**

- Recorded & mixed by **Alex Eilers**

- Mastered by **Jackson Ward** at **Strata Recording**

- Artwork by **Joshua Dunlap** (*aka ChemicalMessiah*)

What can we expect from *Cirque*? **How does it compare to past releases?** We’ll get into the writing process, influences, and **how Alex approached crafting this EP from the ground up**.

🥁 **Why Programmed Drums?** – Alex plays **everything** in Funeral Language, so why not record live drums? What’s the process like for programming them?

🖤 **Other Projects from Alex Eilers**

💀 **Don Jenver** – **Deathcore project** where Alex does **vocals**

🔗 Available on **Spotify & Apple Music**

🍜 **Best Noodles In Town** – A **not-quite-metal** band with strong metal influences, where Alex **drums, sings, and screams**

🔗 Available on **Spotify & Apple Music**

💭 **Our Take:**

- **Best Noodles In Town** leans into **mathy indie rock** (*think Minus the Bear*) but keeps that **heavy edge**.

- **"No Words"** and **"Buried Underneath"** are standout tracks—melodic, rhythmic, and **tight as hell**.
